KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - The William Jewell football held No. 25 ranked Truman State to just seven second half points but fell 31-10 on Saturday on the road. The Cardinals move to 2-5 on the season and 1-3 in conference play. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Two William Jewell turnovers in the opening quarter gave Truman State early momentum as the Bulldogs built a 21-0 lead in the first nine minutes of play. 
• The Cardinals got on the board on the opening drive of the second period as Paul Geelen connected on a 46-yard field goal. 
• The Bulldogs got a field goal of their own before Jewell found the end zone as Taylor Eggers found Keaundre McCullough for nine yards to make it 24-10 at the break. 
• After a scoreless third quarter, Truman added another touchdown to start the fourth quarter to bring the score to the final of 31-10.  

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Kaylin Merriweather led the ground game with 62 rushing yards on a career high 18 carries. 
• Layne Cavanah finished with 56 yards on five catches while Eggers went 14-for-29 for 133 yards. 
• Adam Callahan led the defense with 11 tackles while Sean Mitchell added eight and Jake Hedrick seven, including one for loss.
