QUINCY, Ill. - The William Jewell women's basketball team dropped a 77-54 decision on Thursday night on the road at Quincy University. The Cardinals fall to 4-24 on the year and 2-16 in conference play. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Jewell got off to a good start as Libby Arnold and Bree Shannon hit back-to-back threes early in the first quarter to give Jewell an 8-2 lead. The Hawks outscored the Cardinals 39-11 over the next 15 minutes to go into the break, leading 41-19. 
• Quincy expanded their lead to as many as 34 in the third quarter but Skyler Boylan hit four three throws over the final minute of the period to get it back to 60-30. 
• Jewell found some offensive rhythm in the fourth quarter, scoring 24 points. The Cardinals went on a 15-6 run after a steal from Katie Knock that led to a traditional three point play by Shannon. A jumper from Ayden Shannon cut the deficit to 18 but the Cardinals could get no closer. 

KEY STATS

• Ayden Shannon led Jewell with 13 points, including 11 in the first half. 
• Zars pulled down a team high eight rebounds and handed out a career best five assists. 
• The Cardinal bench outscored its counterpart 22-13, led by nine from Knock and seven from Kate Hillyer.
