TAHLEQUAH, Okla. - Northeastern State downed the William Jewell baseball team 10-4 on Sunday to take the final game of the series. The Cardinals drop to 1-2 on the young season. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• NSU got on the board first in the bottom of the second with a two-run home run but Quincy Aldrich came right back with one of his own to quickly tie the game at two. 
• Jewell added two more in the top of the third as Jordan Phillips singled through the left side, scoring Jake Wilcox, before Alex Epp scored on a sac fly off the bat of Cole Conner to make it 4-2 in favor of the Cardinals. 
• The RiverHawks tied things up in the bottom half of the third before adding six runs over the next four frames to take the game. 

KEY STATS

• Jewell was limited to five hits from five different players. 
• Aldrich led the team with two RBI while Phillips swiped a base. 
• On the mound, Chandler Jones (0-1) took the loss, allowing two earned runs on two hits. 
• The starter, Jake Sawyer, worked three frames with three earned runs on six hits with one strikeout.

The Cardinals open up Talley Stadium for the 2023 season next weekend as they host Wayne State College (Neb.) for a four-game series beginning Friday afternoon at 1 p.m.
