LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell baseball team got back in the win column on Tuesday evening, taking an 8-4 game over Missouri Western in non-conference action. The Cardinals improve to 15-7 on the season with the victory. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Missouri Western got on the board first with an unearned run in the top of the second inning but the Cardinals came back with two in the bottom half as Will Brant walked then scored on a home run by Kaden Owens. 
• A three-run blast from the Griffons gave them a 4-2 lead in the fifth. 
• Jewell retook the lead in the bottom half as Owens drew a bases loaded walk followed by a Drew Reed RBI single to center. Cale Blasi then reached on a fielder's choice but all runners were safe as Brant crossed the plate to make it 5-4. 
• Jordan Phillips flied out to center to score Jake Wilcox with two outs in the sixth before Alex Epp scored on a wild pitch to extend the lead. 
• The Cards added one more in the seventh frame as Blasi scored on a bases loaded wild pitch. 

KEY STATS

• The Cardinals had just six hits on the day by six different players but received 15 free passes.
• Brant and Dawson Tweet each drew three walks while Owens and Epp each had two. 
• Levi Ebersoldt (1-0) picked up his first win of the year, going 6.1 innings, allowing just three earned on eight hits while striking out three.
