LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell baseball team secured another GLVC series win on Sunday as they defeated Missouri-St. Louis 3-1 to take three-of-four from the Tritons. The Cardinals move to 18-8 on the year and 8-4 in GLVC action. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Jewell broke the ice first in the bottom of the second. With two on, Jonah Sanford laid down the squeeze bunt to score Jordan Phillips for the first run, followed by an RBI double from Quincy Aldrich to make it 2-0 in favor of the Cardinals. 
• Dawson Tweet walked and stole second to lead off the third inning before scoring on a fielding error by the Triton second baseman to extend the lead. 
• A sac fly in the sixth put UMSL on the board, but the Cardinal defense shut down the threat.  

KEY STATS

• Jewell finished with just six hits, led by two each from Will Brant and Kaden Owens. 
• Jake Sawyer (3-1) tossed his first complete game of the season, giving up one earned run over nine innings with seven strikeouts.

Jewell will travel to St. Joseph on Wednesday for a rematch with Missouri Western in non-conference play.
