LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell volleyball team suffered a 3-0 loss at the hands of Missouri Southern on Tuesday evening in non-conference action. The Cardinals drop to 5-6 on the season as they head into Great Lakes Valley Conference play. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• With the Cardinals leading 10-9, Missouri Southern went on a 9-1 run to open up a 19-11 advantage. The teams traded points as Jewell was able to get back within five after a triple block but the Lions finished off the set, 25-19. 
• The Cardinals fell into an early 10-3 hole in set two, forcing a timeout from Samantha Williams. Following the pause, Jewell went on an 11-3 run to eventually tie things up at 14 after three consecutive kills from Katy Garrison and Bella LaPorta. MSSU responded with an 11-4 run to take set two 25-18.
•  In set three, the Lions opened up a 22-15 lead before the Cardinals rallied with a 6-2 run, capped by back-to-back kills from LaPorta and Anna Godfredsen to get back within three but an error ended the comeback, 25-21. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• LaPorta led the way with 13 kills while Alex Dvorak finished with 10. 
• Jesa Wallace handed out 17 assists while Garrison had five blocks.
• Alexis Nunn led three players in double figure digs with 16 while Hannah Cope had 13 and LaPorta 11. 
• The Cardinals were limited to just a .111 attack percentage as a team.
