LIBERTY, Mo. - After overcoming an early sluggish start, the William Jewell volleyball team put up a tough challenge to Indianapolis in four sets. The Cardinals fell to 6-10 on the season and 1-3 in conference play. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Jewell got off to a slow start as the Greyhounds rolled to an opening 25-15 win. 
• Set two was the exact opposite as the Cardinals were on the offensive, jumping out to a 13-5 lead after an ace from Alexis Nunn. Jewell scored five of the final seven points to win 25-15 on a kill by Jesa Wallace. 
• UIndy took an 8-5 lead in set three, forcing an early Cardinal timeout, but Jewell responded, scoring five of the next seven with kills from Wallace, Alex Dvoark and Katy Garrison to tie things up at 10. The Hounds were able to secure five of the final six points to take the set 25-22.
• Trailing 19-18, the Cardinals got a kill from Maliyah Johnson and an ace by Brooke Tholen to reverse things and put Jewell back on top. The teams traded points until back-to-back kills from Hannah Sabotin gave UIndy a two point lead. Anna Godfredsen held off match point with a kill but the Greyhounds finished it off, 25-23. 

INSIDE THE NEXT 

• Bella LaPorta posted another double-double with 17 kills and 17 digs. 
• Johnson picked up a season best 11 kills while Godfredsen added nine. 
• Garrison had a team best four blocks as the Cardinals out blocked UIndy 6-2.
• Samantha Thompson handed out 27 assists with Wallace posting 19. 
• Nunn added 12 digs while Tholen had 11.
