LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell men's basketball team dropped a 70-63 decision on Thursday to Lewis University. The Cardinals fall to 9-5 on the year and 3-2 in conference play. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• After Lewis scored the first four points of the game, the Cardinals went on a 14-5 run to take the lead. The Flyers responded quickly, tying the game at 14 at the midway point of the first half. Both teams traded buckets over the next seven minutes until Kobe McKinley scored six points to give Jewell a 26-20 lead at the half.
• Jewell maintained a two possession lead for much of the second half, going in front by as many as nine after two free throws from Justice Sutton. With the Cardinals leading 42-35 just over halfway through the second period, Lewis went on a 17-10 run to tie the game at 52 with four minutes to play.
• The Flyers took advantage of multiple fouls to go on top 58-52 after a three from Beau Frericks. Isaac Patterson matched it with a triple from the corner but the Cardinals could not recover the deficit, falling 70-63.  

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Jewell was limited to 37% from the floor and 25% from three while the Flyers connected on 48% from the field. 
• Patterson scored a game high 23 points with McKinley adding 19 and Jordan Jermain 13. 
• McKinley picked up his first double-double of the year with 10 rebounds with Trey Shannon adding five assists.
