WICHITA, Kan. - The William Jewell volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision on the road at Newman University on Tuesday evening. The Cardinals fall to 4-10 on the season with the loss. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Cardinals fell into a 19-12 hole in set one and put together a late rally, led by two kills from Bella LaPorta but dropped the opener 25-18.
• The Jets again burst out to a commanding lead in set two and cruised to a 25-9 win. 
• Jewell responded in set three, opening up a 17-12 lead after consecutive LaPorta kills. Newman pulled within one but Madison Grekstas and Macy Bartlett each scored to help the Cardinals win 25-19.
• With set four tied at 13, the Jets went on a 10-6 run to open up a 23-19 lead. Two Newman errors got the Cards back within three but the Jets finished with a kill to win 25-21.  

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Jewell was held to a .123 attack percentage but finished with eight team blocks, led by four from Katy Garrison and three by Caroline Beckmann. 
• LaPorta had another double-double with a game-high 22 kills to go with 11 digs. 
• Samantha Thompson handed out a team high 19 assists.
