WAYNE, Neb. - The William Jewell women's basketball team suffered a 82-60 loss on Wednesday in non-conference action at Wayne State College. The Cardinals drop to 1-4 on the season while WSC improves to 3-2. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Both teams played nearly even in the opening quarter as Ayden Shannon and Kirsten Hauck each hit early threes to hold the Cardinals within three after the first period. 
• Midway through the second quarter, Wayne State went on a 10-2 run to hold a double-digit lead at the half, 39-28. 
• The Wildcats expanded their lead to as many as 29 late in the third quarter but Jewell won the fourth quarter, 20-16, capped by a three from Morgan Ives, to close out the game. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Shannon led all scorers with 23 points, her third consecutive 20-plus point game. 
• Hauck, Maja Komaszynska, and Paris Opelt each had a team high six rebounds while Ives handed out four assists.
