SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - The William Jewell men's basketball team ran into a hot shooting Illinois Springfield team on Thursday evening, falling 86-82. The Cardinals drop to 12-8 on the season and 6-6 in conference play. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Trailing by nine in the early going, Kobe McKinley and Justice Sutton pulled the Cardinals back in front, combining for 13 points over the span of five minutes. 
• The teams traded seven lead changes over the next four minutes as three point play from Sutton put Jewell up four. UIS finished the half on a 14-6 run to take a 43-39 advantage into the break. 
• The Stars pushed their lead to double digits to start the second half before Jordan Jermain caught fire, scoring eight points to pull the Cards back within four with under seven minutes to go. 
• UIS extend their lead back to nine before Jewell made a final push, going on an 11-4 run to pull within two with just 46 seconds on the clock but the Prairie Stars would able to hold off the Cards to win by four.   

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Three Cardinals finished with 20-plus points, led by McKinley's 28. Jermain added 23 and Sutton posted a career high 22 on 7-of-8 from the floor. 
• Jewell shot 52% from the floor but the Stars were a blistering 66% on their end.
