QUINCY, Ill. - The William Jewell men's lacrosse team opened their inaugural season on Saturday afternoon at Quincy University, falling 15-7. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Quincy took the early lead with three goals in the opening quarter. Jewell got on the board early in the second as Olivier LaPlante scored the first goal in program history on a feed from Jake Wynecoop.
• Bailey Allard followed with another score before the Hawks responded with two of their own. Tanner Garcia got one back for Jewell who trailed 5-3 at the half. 
• Garcia added another in the third period while Kade Barvitz and LaPlante scored back-to-back to pull the Cardinals back within four. 
• Quincy outscored the Cards 4-1 in the fourth period to take the win, 15-7.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Garcia and LaPlante each finished with two goals with the latter having three total points. 
• Wynecoop had a team high six shots, with four on goal as the Cardinals put 25-of-33 shots on target. 
• Fynn Ziebarth got the start in goal and finished with 16 saves.
