Box Score CANTON, Ohio - The William Jewell men's lacrosse program earned its first win on Friday afternoon in a 15-14 victory at Malone University. The Cardinals move to 1-1 on the year with the win. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Jewell took an early 2-0 lead on back-to-back goals from Jake Wynecoop in the first six minutes. After Malone tied things up a score from Carson Wright gave the Cards a 3-2 lead after 15 minutes. 
• In the second quarter, Jewell went on a 5-1 run, with five different players scoring, to take an 8-4 lead into the break. 
• The Pioneers battled back in the third period, scoring three quick goals to pull within one. Wynecoop and Nathaniel Leroux pushed the lead back to three but Malone matched it to trail by just one headed into the final frame. 
• After the Pioneers tied things up at 10 to start the fourth period, the Cardinals went on a crucial 5-1 run to open up a 15-11 lead with just over a minute remaining. Malone battled to the final second, scoring three goals in the span of approximately 40 seconds to pull within one. The Pioneers got off a shot in the final seconds but it was blocked to secure the Cardinal victory.  

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Wynecoop and Leroux each finished with four goals with the latter also having three assists for seven points. 
• Bailey Allard also scored twice while Tanner Garcia had three assists. 
• Jewell was 15-of-32 in face offs as Hunter Mee and Cody Kaiser combined for 14.  
• Fynn Ziebarth earned the win in goal and finished with 17 saves.
