b - The William Jewell women's basketball team kept pace with Lewis University in the opening 20 minutes but a big third quarter helped the Flyers separate themselves and win 83-66 on Saturday afternoon. Jewell falls to 5-21 overall and 5-14 in conference play. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Cardinals hit three early three pointers to hold a 9-8 lead after four minutes. Four points from Libby Arnold helped push that advantage to seven but Lewis made a quick run to trail by just two after 10 minutes. 
• The Flyers continued their outburst, going on top by as many as 10 in the second quarter. Jewell ended the half by outscoring Lewis 17-12 to make it 45-40 at the break. 
• The third quarter belonged to the home team as they outscored Jewell 26-14 to push their lead to 71-54 entering the final period. 
• Lewis led by as many as 25 in the fourth period but the Cardinals made a final 10-2 run, capped by an Ellie Knock layup to bring the score to the final of 83-66.  

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Jewell had balanced scoring with Arnold and Caitlin Behling leading five players in double figures with 12. 
• Ayden Shannon and Emree Zars added 11 each while Kate Hillyer finished with 10. 
• Jewell shot 47% from the floor and scored 28 points in the paint.

The Cardinals return home to close the season as they host Maryville on Thursday and Missouri S&T on Saturday afternoon.
