LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell men's basketball team held Southwest Baptist 52 points on Thursday night in a 66-52 win to improve to 14-8 on the year and 8-6 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Jewell came out of the gates fast, as back-to-back threes from Isaac Patterson and Jordan Jermain gave the Cardinals a 10-0 lead and forced an early SBU timeout. Over the next 10 minutes, the Bearcats outscored Jewell 13-6 to pull within three. The teams played even over the final five minutes of the half as Jewell went to the break leading 27-21. 
• Early in the second half, SBU cut the deficit to a single possession multiple times but two big dunks from Eli Wingert and consecutive triples by Patterson and Trey Shannon gave Jewell a 50-34 margin. Three free throws and another Shannon trey gave the Cardinals their largest of the day at 20.  
• The Bearcats were able to get back within 11 late but two more threes from Jermain and Patterson nailed down the win. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Jermain led the Cardinal offense with 19 points and four assists, while going 7-for-7 from thre free throw line. 
• Patterson added 17 points, while Shannon and Wingert chipped in 10 points a piece with the latter grabbing a team high eight rebounds. 
• Jewell shot 46% from the field while scoring 30 points in the paint. 
• The 52 points by the Bearcats is the lowest point total allowed to an opponent this season.
