LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell women's lacrosse team put together a second half rally on Tuesday but came up just short to Daemen University (N.Y.). The Cardinals drop to 1-5 overall with the loss. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The visitors jumped on top early with two quick goals in the opening three minutes but Kaylee Gross put Jewell on the board with a goal at the 10:33 mark of the first quarter. 
• Trailing 6-2, the Cardinals got scores from Toryn Podschwit before Jacey Wynn found her sister Jordan Wynn for a goal to cut the deficit to 6-4.  
• Daemen pushed their lead to 10-5 early in the third frame before the Cardinals made a push as Gross added a score followed quickly by back-to-back goals from Olivia Fornelli.
• The Wynn sisters teamed up in the fourth quarter to pull Jewell within one, 11-10, but the Wildcats got two more of their own to put the game out of reach.  

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Gross and Fornelli each scored three goals while Jacey Wynn added two and an assist. 
• Haydin Gibson had 13 saves while Gross added a team high seven ground balls and six caused turnovers.

Jewell is off until March 22 when they will host Concordia St. Paul at 6 p.m.
