Cardinals Capture Series Victory Over Southwest Baptist

LIBERTY, Mo. – The William Jewell baseball team won the final game of their series against Southwest Baptist, 6-1. With the win the Cardinals would take the series 3-1 and move to 15-11 and an even 8-8 within conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After a lead-off walk to start the game, Evan Jilbert reached on an error by the Bearcat shortstop that would allow Alex Epp to score and give Jewell the 1-0 lead.
  • A lead-off ground-rule double by Dawson Tweet got things started. Four batters later with the bases loaded, Epp hit into a fielder's choice that would score Tweet from third.
  • Up 2-1, the Cardinals would plate a single run in the third when Cole Conner ripped a single into right center to score Jilbert from second.
  • Jewell would go onto score three more, including a two-run shot from Jonah Sanford in the eighth to lead 6-1.
  • After scoring one in the ninth, with the bases loaded and no outs Brogan McDougall would come into the game and allow only one run to score while striking out a pair to give the Cardinals the 6-3 victory.
