Cardinals Drop High Scoring Affair Versus Truman State

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The William Jewell Baseball team combined for 36 runs with Truman State University as the Bulldogs would get the opening game victory 20-16. The loss places Jewell at 21-17 on the year while now being 12-13 in GLVC action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Jewell would be held quiet until the fifth inning until Alex Epp, facing his younger brother on the mound for the Bulldogs, ripped a two-run double to left center to make it 5-2.
  • Down 12-3 entering the sixth, Jewell would plate seven runs to make it a two-run game in the end. The inning began with a bases loaded walk to Ben Click and then a pair of RBI singles from Cole Conner and Epp. The highlight of the inning was a three-run homer for Evan Jilbert.
  • Jewell would plate two runs in each the eighth and the ninth, including a Click homer, but it would not be enough as Truman would escape with a four run, 20-16 win.
