LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell men's lacrosse team held Quincy University relatively quiet on their way to a 10-7 victory on Saturday afternoon. The win moves the Cardinals to 7-7 overall and 1-4 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, marking the program's first conference win.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• After Quincy took the early lead, the Cardinals got goals from Nathaniel Leroux and Tanner Garcia in the next four minutes to take a 2-1 lead after one frame. 
• Jewell added three more in the second period and another early in the third to expand their lead to 6-1 while holding the Hawks scoreless for more than 30 minutes. 
• Quincy looked to make a rally, getting two scores in the span of seven seconds to cut the deficit in half but Carson Wright pushed it back to a four goal advantage.
• Jake Wynecoop made it a 10-5 Cardinal lead with under 12 minutes to play as Jewell held off a Quincy rally late to win 10-7.  

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Jewell out shot the Hawks 41-30 and were 2-of-5 in extra man opportunities. 
• Garcia led the Cardinals with a season high four goals while Wright added two scores and two assists on a team high eight shots. 
• Bear Anderson lead the defense with three caused turnovers and five ground balls. 
• Fynn Ziebarth earned the win in goal with 10 saves.
