KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The William Jewell Baseball team left northern Missouri with a 11-4 series-clinching win against Truman State University Sunday afternoon. On the year Jewell is 24-17 and 15-13 in conference games.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Jordan Phillips began the scoring for Jewell in the first with a two-run double scoring Jake Wilcox and Alex Epp. The next batter Will Brant would single to score Phillips to third. A sac fly from Cole Conner would plate one more run to leave the frame up 4-0.
• Cardinals would score three more in the second inning, first with an RBI double down the left field line off the bat of Wilcox. Phillips would notch his second hit and RBI with a single, and would later set up Evan Jilbert to score when an errant throw on Phillips' stealing second sent the right fielder home.
• After allowing the Bulldogs to score in the second, Jilbert would blast a three-run home run to left in the fourth to make it a nine-run game.
• Brant would tack on an RBI double in the ninth to give Jewell the 11-4 win.

KEY STATS

• Levi Ebersoldt pitched seven innings, striking out five, and giving up four runs on eight hits. The senior would receive the win and move to 3-1 on the year.
• With his three-run homer in the fourth, Jilbert has hit a home run in four of the last five games for Jewell, and has 18 on the year.
• Dawson Tweet, who entered the weekend leading the GLVC in doubles, tallied one more Sunday afternoon – one of the five Cardinals would grabbed a two bagger.
