ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The William Jewell women's lacrosse team challenged Lewis University early but the Flyers used a big second half to down the Cardinals 22-9. The Cardinals fall to 1-9 overall and 0-2 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Jewell came out of the gates fast as Olivia Fornelli and Sara Polovina each scored in the first 44 seconds of the game to give Jewell the early lead. 
• Lewis went on a 5-2 run through the next 13-plus minutes of the first quarter before Toryn Podschwit tied things up at five just before the buzzer. 
• Addison Devers scored at the end of the second period to make it 11-6 at the intermission. 
• Jewell was out scored 11-3 in the second half as Lewis took the game 22-9. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Devers scored a team high three goals on six shots while Fornelli added two scores and an assist. 
• Polovina grabbed three ground balls while forcing three turnovers. 
• Haydin Gibson posted 10 saves in the loss. 
• The Cardinals won 15-of-28 draw controls.
