MARION, Ill. – After being postponed yesterday due to weather, the #6 seed William Jewell baseball team beat #3 seeded Drury University 3-2 in their first game of the GLVC Baseball Championship Tournament Thursday afternoon. The win places Jewell on the winner's side of the bracket, where they will face #2 Maryville Friday.

  • With two men on in the fifth, Jake Wilcox notched a single to right center that drove in Cale Blasi to give Jewell the one-run lead.
  • Drury would tie it at one in the seventh, with Blasi standing on second Wilcox would again single this time to left to break the tie and give the lead back to the Cardinals 2-1.
  • The Panthers would score one in the eighth and neither team would plate a run in the ninth and head to extras.
  • In the eleventh inning after Jordan Phillips advanced to third after reaching on a double, Dawson Tweet would single to right scoring the go-ahead run as Jewell would take home the 3-2 win.
