LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell volleyball team gave No. 5 ranked Missouri-St. Louis all they could handle on Saturday afternoon but dropped a 3-1 decision to fall to 4-9 overall and 0-2 in conference play. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Cardinals started strong, jumping out to a 12-7 lead behind two kills and a block from Katy Garrison. Back-to-back aces fro Samantha Thomnpson pushed the Cardinal lead to 21-13. The Tritons got two kills from Iyannah Jackson late but Bella LaPorta ended the set with a kill, 25-17. 
• Both teams traded runs early in set two as the Cardinals held an 18-15 advantage midway through. UMSL outscored Jewell 10-1 the rest of the set to win 25-19 and knot the match. 
• With the Tritons leading by just one in set three, UMSL used another big run to take the set, 25-17. 
• The Cardinals ran out of momentum late in set four as the No. 5 ranked Tritons closed the match outscoring Jewell 16-11 to win 25-16 and take the game, 3-1. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• LaPorta finished with another double-double of a team high 13 kills and 12 digs. Garrison and Madison Grekstas each added eight kills with the former posting five blocks. 
• Thompson handed out 16 assists with Alexis Frazier having 15. 
• Alexis Nunn finished with 10 digs while Amauri Browning had a team best three aces.
