LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell volleyball team fell SCORE on Saturday to Washburn University, who is receiving votes in the national polls. The Cardinals drop to 0-4 on the young season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After the Cardinals jumped out to a 4-0 lead after a kill from Katy Garrison, Washburn went on a 20-8 run to open up a commanding lead. Emma Lea Benney and Madison Grekstas each scored for Jewell but the Ichabods finished things off 25-15.
- Trailing 11-5 in set two, the Cardinals outscored Washburn 6-3 to pull back within three after another Garrison kill. The two teams traded points the rest of the way but the Ichabods took the set, 25-18.
- Washburn grabbed a quick 3-0 lead in the third frame but the Cardinals followed with a 7-1 run aided by four attack errors by the Ichabods to go in front. Three kills by Bella LaPorta kept Jewell on top until midway through when WU went on a 10-1 run behind Corinna McMullen's serve to win 25-17.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Jewell was limited to a .103 attack percentage while the visitors hit .364.
- LaPorta led the team with 11 kills and 13 digs while Samantha Thompson handed out 18 assists.
