INDIANAPOLIS - The William Jewell football team fell 63-17 on Saturday on the road at No. 19 Indianapolis. The loss drops the Cardinals to 2-3 on the season and 0-3 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Greyhounds started off fast grabbing an opening drive interception and scored two plays later before following up with another seven yard score to take a quick 14-0 lead.
On the first play of the ensuing drive,
Tyler Kubat found
Nate Barnett for 75 yards to the end zone to get the Cardinals on the board. UIndy outscored the Cardinals 28-3 the remainder of the first half to hold a commanding 42-10 lead at the intermission.
Early in the second half, Kubat again converted a long pass, this time to
Yasir Winston for 79 yards. The Greyhounds finished with 14 points in the fourth quarter to bring the score to the final of 63-17.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Jewell amassed 378 yards of total offense on 63 plays as Ronnie Thomas, Jr. led the ground game with 62 net yards on 14 carries.
- Kubat was 18-of-29 through the air for 272 yards, including two 70-plus completions, the longest since 2023. Barnett was the top target with 86 yards on four catches.
- Keagan Hart led the defense with 11 tackles and a forced fumble while Isaiah Byrd finished with 10 tackles.
