ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The William Jewell volleyball team showed improvement in each set but fell to the Midwest Region's top ranked team, Missouri-St. Louis, on Friday night in straight sets. The Cardinals drop to 4-22 overall and 0-12 in conference play. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• UMSL jumped out to an early 10-point advantage in the opener before a block from Wylie Singleton and Emma Lea Benney helped spark a Cardinal run. The Tritons finished the set on a 7-1 run to win 25-11. 
• Two kills from Kelsey Keling and a Singleton ace pulled the Cardinals within two early in the second frame before the home team pulled ahead late, 22-12. Caroline Beckmann's kill and another Singleton block got two back for Jewell but the Tritons finished off a 25-14 victory. 
• The Cardinals played even with UMSL through the midway point of the third set as a kill from Ashlynn Rowland, pulled Jewell within one, 16-15. The Tritons used a 9-3 run to take the set and the match.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• The Cardinals out blocked UMSL, 10-6, led by Singleton's career high of seven. Benney added four, and Emily Brannan three. 
• Keling finished with a team high eight kills while Rowland had nine digs.
