LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell men's basketball ran into one of the nation's top teams on Saturday, falling 90-54 to No. 2 Washburn University. The Cardinals fall to 2-2 on the season with the loss. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• After an early run put Washburn on top by double digits, the Cardinals chipped away, sparked by by back-to-back three pointers from Ashton Jermain and Kyle Scharbrough. Two free throws from Isaac Patterson pulled Jewell back within six but the Ichabods closed the half on a 16-1 run to lead 40-25 at the break. 
• Washburn shot a blistering 61% from the floor in the second half, building their lead to as many as 40 late in the game, rolling to the 90-54 win. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Isaac Patterson and Ty Romero each finished with a team high 11 points, with the former handing out five assists. 
• Multiple young players got their first collegiate action as Adam Fuller and PJ Moore each scored their first career points.
