LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell men's basketball team dropped a 82-56 decision to Missouri Western on Tuesday evening to close the early non-conference portion of the schedule, sitting at 2-3 overall. 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

• The Cardinals and Griffons played even to start the evening as a bucket from Bryce Mitchell made it 16-all midway through the first half. From there, Missouri Western went on a 19-4 run over the next six minutes to break out to a 15-point advantage and lead 39-24 at the break.
• The Jewell offense was cold in the second half, shooting just 30% from the floor while the Griffons continued to hit at a nearly 50% rate, expanding their lead to as many as 27 late in the game. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Ty Romero led the Cardinals with 11 points while Kanukayi Gudza added nine. 
• Mitchell and Isaac Patterson pulled down a team high seven rebounds as Jewell grabbed a season-best 16 on o the offensive end.

Jewell is off until after the Thanksgiving holiday as they return to the court on Monday at Illinois Springfield to open Great Lakes Valley Conference play.
