LIBERTY, Mo. - After a rough start, the William Jewell volleyball team pushed one of the league's top team to the brink but fell 3-0 to Indianapolis on Saturday afternoon. The Cardinals move to 4-21 overall and 0-11 in GLVC play. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• UIndy came out of the gates on fire, hitting .406 in the opening set while holding the Cardinals to -.125, rolling to a 25-8 win. 
• Jewell started the second set like a new team, taking an early 8-4 lead after an Emily Brannan kill. The Greyhounds used an 11-5 run to go in front 15-13 and eventually take the set, 25-20. 
• With UIndy leading 12-6 midway through the third frame, the Cardinals went on a 9-3 run, led by two kills from Emma Lea Benney, to knot the score at 15-all. The teams traded points until the Hounds took a three point advantage late. A Caroline Beckmann kill pulled Jewell back within two but back-to-back points gave the visitors the set.

• After a slow start offensively, the Cardinals improved in each set, as Beckmann and Brannan each finished with eight kills while Reaghan Bible had 21 assists. 
• Brianna Witthar starred on the back row, finishing with a team high 12 digs and two aces while Wylie Singleton added three blocks.
