LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell men's basketball team hit a season best 15 three point field goals on Thursday evening in a 74-61 win over Southwest Baptist. The Cardinals improve to 3-4 on the season and 1-1 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Tied at 16-all more midway through the first half, PJ Moore found Kyle Scharbrough for a layup to put Jewell in front but the Bearcats responded and eventually knotted things up again at 23. A Will Beck three pointer sparked a run of four triples by four different players to close the half as Jewell led 37-29 at the break. 
• The Cardinals maintained their lead throughout the second half as SBU pulled within five midway through but another three, this time from Ty Romero, helped push the advantage back to double digits. Kanukayi Gudza's three with just under two minutes to go put Jewell up 12 and the game on ice. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Justice Sutton poured in a game high 20 points while Scharbrough added 16 with Beck finishing iwth a dozen in his first career start. 
• The Cardinals, who played without Isaac Patterson's 12.5 points per game, also got help from the bench, led by Romero's nine points.
• Jewell handed out a season high 19 assists, led by Gudza with five and Ashton Jermain with four. 
• Jewell hit 15 total threes (50%), as Scharbrough had four, Sutton and Romero with three each, while Jermain and Gudza had two a piece.
