LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell men's basketball team fell 76-59 on Saturday afternoon to Rockhurst University to drop to 3-5 overall and 1-2 in conference action. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Rockhurst started hot, jumping out to a quick nine point lead but the Cardinals settled as a Kanukayi Gudza three cut the deficit to just one late in the opening half. The Hawks closed the first period on a 14-7 run, but a three from Adam Fuller made it 31-23 at the break. 
• The Cardinals kept pace in the early part of the second half, as a offensive rebound and bucket by Justice Sutton pulled Jewell within three, 39-36 with under 14 to play. Rockhurst outscored the Cardinals 37-23 the rest of the way to pull away for the 76-59 win.  

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• After a slow start offensively, Sutton finished with a game high 19, including 8-for-8 from the free throw line, while also grabbing five rebounds. 
• Scharbrough added 12 points and three steals. 
• Jewell shot 35% from the floor and were 14-of-15 from the free throw line.
