LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell women's basketball team hosted crosstown rival Rockhurst University on Saturday afternoon, falling 75-54. The Cardinals drop to 0-7 on the season and 0-3 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Tied in the early moments after a free throw from Syderah Farmer, Rockhurst followed with a 12-0 run to open up their first double-digit lead of the day. Five points from Jacee Peterson and a three by Alex McGarrah pulled Jewell back within four late in the first quarter but Rockhurst finished the half by outscoring the Cardinals 25-9. 
• Jewell played even with the Hawks in the second half outscored by just one, 32-31 but could not dig out of the early hole. After struggling from long range in the first three periods, the Cardinals hit four three points over the final 10 minutes, two by Peterson and one each from Kirra Long and Chanelle Anderson. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Peterson poured in a season high 18 points and picked up her first career double-double, grabbing 11 rebounds. 
• McGarrah added a dozen points with Anna Daughtry handed out three assists. 
• The Cardinals out-rebounded Rockhurst 44-32, with a season high 32 defensive boards.
