LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell women's basketball team dropped a 73-61 decision on Thursday evening to Missouri-St. Louis. The Cardinals fall to 5-18 on the season and 3-14 in conference play. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• With Jewell leading by one, UMSL went on a 11-3 run to take a seven point lead. Kate Hillyer hit a shot just before the buzzer to make it a 17-11 game after 10 minutes. 
• The cold start continued into the second quarter as the Tritons built a double digit advantage but Jewell rallied to finish the half on a 15-4 run to trail by just two, 34-32, at the intermission.  
• UMSL outscored the Cardinals 23-14 in the third quarter to lead by as many as 15 at the end of the quarter. 
• Midway through the fourth period, Jewell went on a 15-6 run to pull within six after a bucket from Hillyer, but back-to-back threes from the Tritons pushed the advantage back to a dozen. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Kirsten Hauck led three players in double figures with 17 while Hillyer added 15 and Paris Opelt, 10. 
• Opelt led the team with seven rebounds as Jewell was out-rebounded 45-27.
• The Cardinals scored 32 points in the paint and got 20 points out of the bench.
