LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell men's lacrosse team challenged No. 15 ranked Colorado Mesa on Sunday afternoon, falling by a final of 12-3. The Cardinals move to 2-2 on the season with the loss. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• After more than five minutes of scoreless action, the Mavericks got on the first and added two more in the less than 10 seconds to close the first quarter, leading 3-0.
• Jewell limited CMU to just two scores in the second period to trail 5-0 at the break. 
• The Mavericks added four quick goals in teh opening three minutes of the second half to force a Jewell timeout as the Cardinals allowed just one more score in the quarter. 
• In the fourth period, Marcus Damsgaard's found the cage for the Cardinals with Rye Taylor and Jaxson Lenz each added a score before the buzzer.  

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Jewell was out shot 52-19 but forced 19 turnovers and picked up 34 ground balls. 
• Kade Barvitz finished with a team high four shots while Bear Anderson had four caused turnovers.
• Fynn Ziebarth picked up a career high 23 saves.
