Box Score 2 LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell softball team returned home for the first time in 2025 on Wednesday afternoon and came away with two five-inning run rule victories. The Cardinals downed UMary 12-1 and 11-0 to move to 6-8 on the season and win their fifth straight.
GAME ONE: Jewell 12, UMary 1
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cardinals brushed off a shaky start, escaping a bases loaded, no outs situation in the top of the first without allowing a run. Emma Jane Ogle then put Jewell on the board in the bottom half with a two-run home run to left field.
- The Marauders cut the lead in half in the top of the third with an RBI single.
- In bottom of the frame, the Cards plated nine runs on seven hits. Amanda Chung's double brought home the first run of the inning before four straight RBI singles broke things open. Sydney Cure scored on a wild pitch and Alexa Almejo roped a single up the middle to score two more and make it 11-1 after three.
- Ogle plated an additional run in the bottom of the fourth with a single to left to score Abby Harder.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Jewell pounded out 14 hits, led by three from Ogle who also scored three times and drove in three.
- Almejo and Mikayla Chairez each finished with two hits and two RBI with the latter scoring twice.
- Avrey Reynolds (3-3) picked up the win in the circle with four strong innings, allowing just a single earned run.
GAME TWO: Jewell 11, UMary 0
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cardinals jumped out in front quickly in the nightcap, scoring four runs in the opening inning. With two runners on, Almejo and Tori Woodard posted back-to-back RBI singles before both scoring on consecutive passed balls.
- Ogle blasted her second two-run home run of the day in the bottom of the second to expand the lead to 6-0.
- In the fourth, Jewell put the game away with five runs on four hits, highlighted by a two-RBI triple off the bat of Woodard.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Cardinals were led by Woodard's three hits and three RBI while Ogle scored three times and drove in two.
- Sydney Parra (3-2) tossed the shutout, allowing just four hits.

The Cardinals continue their home continue their eight game home stand this weekend with a four-game series against Wayne State College (Neb.) on Saturday and Sunday.
