HARROGATE, Tenn. - The William Jewell men's lacrosse team opened the 2025 season on Friday evening at Lincoln Memorial, falling in a close contest by a final of 9-6. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Lincoln Memorial grabbed the early lead but Seth Heath got the Cardinals on the board with a goal in the first period. 
• Trailing 3-1 in the second quarter, Jewell got scores from Brenner Mitts and Matthew Peterson to tie things up at the half, 4-4
• The Railsplitters outscored Jewell 3-1 in the third as Wyatt Novak scored on a feed from Mitts. 
• Jewell tried to put together a rally trailing by four late, as Novak and Kade Barvitz scored back-to-back but the Cardinals could get no closer.  

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Novak finished with a team high two goals while Eric Ramirez and Nathaniel Leroux paced the squad with four shots each.
• Hudsin DenHartog posted three ground balls and three caused turnovers.
• Fynn Ziebarth finished with five saves.
