HARROGATE, Tenn. - The William Jewell men's lacrosse team outscored Chowan University 4-2 in the fourth quarter to down the Hawks 13-8 and get their first win of the season. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Carson Wright got things going early for the Cardinals, scoring the games first goal just 80 seconds into play. Wright and Declan Fines each scored in the latter moments of the quarter to give Jewell a 3-1 lead. 
• After Chowan cut the deficit to one, the Cardinals got three straight scores from Josh Bertram, Brenner Mitts, and Nathaniel Leroux to make it 6-2 in favor of the visitors.
• The Hawks scored two quick goals to open the second half and pull within two but Jewell scored two in the middle of the period to make it a three goal lead. 
• The Cardinals scored four goals by four different players in the first six minutes of the fourth quarter to take a commanding 13-6 lead. Chowan got two more scores but could get no closer as Jewell walked away with an 13-8 win. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• The Cardinals out shot their opponent, 59-25 and forced 22 turnovers. 
• Wright finished with a team high five points, with four goals and an assist.
• Mitts, Bertram, Fines, and Kade Barvitz also added two scores a piece. 
• Cody Kaiser picked up eight ground balls and won 11-of-19 face offs. 
• Fynn Ziebarth got the win in goal with eight saves.
