PAINESVILLE, Ohio - In their first road trip of the season, the William Jewell women's lacrosse team picked up a dominant 12-3 win over Lake Erie College to move to 1-1 on the year. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• After some early turnovers, the Cardinals found the goal first as Olivia Fornelli scored her fourth of the season. Lake Erie tied things up but Fornelli and Elle Eastwood went back-to-back with two goals in less 90 seconds to take a 3-1 lead. 
• Fornelli added two more scores to start the second period while Kaylee Gross and Sara Polovina each scored to close the half with the Cardinals on top 8-2.
• Both teams tightened up the defense in the third quarter as Jewell scored the only two goals of the period, as Eastwood and Ella Childress scored to expand the lead to 10-2.
• Gross and Elysa Atkinson added two more quick scores for the Cardinals to start the fourth quarter before Lake Erie got one back but neither team scored again over the final 10 minutes of action. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Fornelli led the Cardinals with seven points on three goals and four assists.
• Polovina and Zoey Keefer each finished with four ground balls while Claire Eastwood grabbed six saves.  
• Jewell out shot the Storm 23-15, led by Gross' seven, scoring three times.
