KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The William Jewell men's lacrosse team dropped a 15-7 decision on Wednesday evening at Rockhurst University, in a non-conference meeting. The Cardinals move to 2-5 on the season. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• After Rockhurst took the early lead, the Cardinals got on the board on a man-up goal from Nathaniel Leroux. The Hawks scored three straight to take a three goal lead before Olivier LaPlante found the cage to pull back within two. 
• LaPlante scored again midway through the second quarter but Rockhurst closed the half on a 3-0 run to lead, 8-3 at the break. 
• The Hawks came out of the intermission with momentum, scoring three goals in the first three minutes of the third period before Leroux and LaPlante scored back-to-back to stop the run.
• Carson Wright scored his ninth goal of the season midway through the fourth quarter while Hudson Parnell added a score late, but the Cardinals could get no closer, falling 15-7. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Jewell was out shot 53-29 on the day but converted 2-of-3 extra-man opportunities.
• LaPlante led the offense with three goals on 11 shots while Leroux added two goals and three total points.  
• Matthew Peterson and Marcus Damsgaard had three ground balls a piece. 
• Fynn Ziebarth took the loss in cage, finishing with seven saves, while Kyle Kelly appeared in 27-plus minutes with a game-high nine saves.

Jewell will head south this weekend with stops at Montevallo and Alabama Huntsville on Sunday and Tuesday.
