MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The William Jewell men's lacrosse team opened their southern trek on Sunday with a 22-11 loss at Montevallo. The Cardinals drop to 2-6 on the season. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Olivier LaPlante got the Cardinals on the board three minutes into the game followed by a Hudson Parnell score to finish the first quarter, trailing 3-2. 
• After Nathaniel Leroux scored, the Falcons went on a 3-0 run to open up a 7-3 advantage. Jewell rallied with goals from Josh Bertram, Declan Fines, and another by Leroux to get back within one at the half. 
• Montevallo outscored the Cardinals 15-5 in the second half to runaway with the win.  

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Jewell finished with 37 shots, compared to Montevallo's 51 while forcing 34 turnovers. 
• Leroux and Parnell scored a team high three goals to go with an assist a piece. 
• Tristan MacHendrie picked up four ground balls and had one assist. 
• Fynn Ziebarth grabbed 12 saves over nearly 53 minutes in cage.
