Jewell Pulls Out The Brooms, Sweeps Bulldogs

LIBERTY, Mo. – William Jewell brought out the brooms Sunday afternoon, sweeping Truman State with a game four 14-7 victory at Talley Stadium. It is the Cardinals first GLVC series win of 2025, moving to 12-12 overall and 5-7 in the conference.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Bottom of the first saw every Cardinal batter step up to the box. While not collecting a single hit in the inning, Jewell score three runs courtesy of four batters getting hit by pitches and an additional three walks.
  •  With two men on in the third Evan Jilbert sent a double into center field that scored both Will McCombs and Jonah Sanford, who had also doubled to get on base, to make the score 5-1 William Jewell.
  • A Justin George homer proved crucial to lead-off the sixth after Truman rallied with a six-run fifth inning that at the time but the Bulldogs in the lead.
  • The Cardinals broke it back open in the seventh when they score five runs including a two-run hits from Ben Click and Luke Bies.
  • Jilbert tacked on a home run to right in the next inning for good measure, securing the 14-7 game four win over Truman.
