Cardinals Fall to No. 11 Maryville to Open GLVC Play

LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell men's lacrosse team opened Great Lakes Valley Conference play on Saturday against No. 11 ranked Maryville, falling 20-4. The Cardinals drop to 2-8 on the season and 0-1 in conference action. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Maryville opened up a 6-0 lead after 16-plus minutes before Hudsin DenHartog scored to snap the run.
  • Brenner Mitts found the cage early in the second half, but the Saints followed with a 6-1 run to open up a 16-2 advantage.
  • Carson Wright and Jackson McDonald each scored in the fourth period for the Cardinals. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Wright led Jewell with four shots, including two on goal.
  • Fynn Ziebarth was tops with 12 saves and four ground balls. 
  • Maryville out shot the Cardinals 52-18 on the day.
  • Jewell was 21-of-24 on clear attempts and won 11 face offs. 

UP NEXT
The Cardinals hit the road on Saturday to take on Indianapolis at 1 p.m.
