INDIANAPOLIS - The postseason honors for the 2024-25 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Women's Basketball season were announced by the league office on Wednesday. Among the honorees was William Jewell's
Kirsten Hauck who earned a spot on the All-Freshman Team. Additionally, the Cardinals were the recipients of the James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award. The postseason awards are nominated and voted on by league coaches, who, per GLVC Bylaws, are not permitted to vote for their own players.
Hauck, who becomes the fourth Cardinal to earn All-Freshman honors, appeared in all 26 games, with 23 starts in her debut season. On the year, she averaged 8.8 points, 2.7 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and nearly one steal per game while playing in more than 26 minutes. The rookie was even better in GLVC action, putting in 9.1 points per night with nine double-digit performances, including 18 points against Truman and Illinois Springfield. She added 2.7 rebounds, and 1.8 assists while shooting nearly 35% from three and 89% from the free throw line.
Junior guard
Bree Shannon was the team's individual recipient of the Spalding Sportsmanship award which recognizes student-athletes who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. These individuals must be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting. The honorees from full-time GLVC member institutions are now eligible to become one of their school's two Spalding Sportsmanship Award winners, which will be announced at the end of the academic year.
