SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The William Jewell baseball team lost to fell to Drury to open up GLVC play Friday evening, 15-3 in seven innings due to the run rule. The loss gives the Cardinals an even 6-6 overall record while now being 0-1 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• After not scoring in the top of the first, Drury scored three run in the bottom of the frame to establish the early lead.
• Jewell allowed five more runs between the 2^nd and 4^th innings until in the top of the fifth Ben Click tripled to deep right center for the first Cardinal run of the day. One batter later centerfielder Cale Blasi hit a sacrifice-fly that would score Click from third.
• Down 2-13 in the the 6^th inning, first baseman Justin George blasted a homer over the right field fence but it would prove to not be enough as Drury would hold onto the 10-run lead to end the game in seven innings.

KEY STATS

• Jake Sawyer received the loss going 2.2 innings allowing seven runs on 10 hits.
• Click and George would combine for half of the eight Jewell hits with two each while Drury had 21 total hits.
