LIBERTY, Mo. – William Jewell opened their four-game series to the University of Indianapolis Greyhounds Friday evening, dropping the contest 9-3. The Cardinals fall to 20-23 and an 11-14 GLVC record.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• After allowing two runs in the top of the first, Will McCombs ripped a solo homer to left center to cut the lead to one run.
• The Greyhounds scored two more runs in the second and third innings to take a 6-1 lead. The Cardinals scored in the fifth when Evan Jilbert grounded out to score Luke Bies from third.
• An RBI triple from Camden Dayton would score first baseman Justin George in the sixth, but Jewell didn't get any closer than four runs, ultimately falling 9-3.

KEY STATS

• Charlie Rambo started on the bump for the Cardinals, striking out only two giving up seven runs, four of which were earned.
• Cardinal batters were struck out 11 times, compared to the three combined K's the Jewell staff put together.
