Bearcats Upend Jewell in GLVC Action

LEBANON, Ill. - The William Jewell football team suffered a 40-24 loss at McKendree University on Saturday afternoon to drop to 2-2 on the season and 0-2 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Jewell had a roller coaster of an opening drive, as a dropped interception on the first play of the game turned into a 56 yard touchdown run for the Bearcats just three plays later as they grabbed the early lead. The Cardinals knotted things up late in the first quarter as Carson Forrest grabbed his first career touchdown with a seven yard reception.

After McKendree hit a field goal, Bleu Renfrow came back with one of his own from 35 yards to again tie things up at 10-all but the Bearcats went back in front quickly, 17-10. Both offenses caught fire in the final three minutes of the first half as McKendree took a 14 point lead with a two-yard touchdown run before the Cardinals drove the field with seven plays for 67 yards over just 47 seconds culminating in a Xavier Winston touchdown catch as the clock expired to send things to the intermission with the Cards trailing 24-17.

The Bearcats outscored Jewell 16-7 in the second half to runaway with the win.
