LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell women's basketball team put together three strong quarters on Thursday night but a cold second frame sunk the Cardinals against Maryville, falling 83-49. Jewell drops to 0-12 on the season and 0-6 in the league. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Saints jumped out to an early nine point lead at the media timeout of the first quarter but a Jalea Price three stopped the run as the Cardinals outscored the Maryville 11-6 over the final moments of the frame to trail by just four, 17-13. 
• Jewell went cold in the second period while the Saints heated up, shooting better than 62% and outscoring the Cardinals 28-7 to open up a 45-20 halftime lead. 
• The teams played nearly even as Maryville edged the Cards in the third quarter, 14-13 to maintain their lead. Mandi Pham's three pointer started the fourth period with Price and Syderah Farmer each hitting a triple moments later to cut the deficit to 23. The Saints finished on a 15-4 run to close out the the 83-49 win.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Jewell shot 33% on the game with 16 points in the paint, led by Price's 10 while Farmer added nine and Maja Komaszynska had eight. 
• Rylee Thompson paced the Cardinals with eight rebounds as Jewell pulled down 38 boards, including 13 offensive. 
• Anna Daughtry handed out a team high three assists.
