Jewell Holds Blue Tigers Scoreless in Overtime for 74-60 Win

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The William Jewell men's basketball team escaped with a 74-60 overtime win on Thursday evening at Lincoln University of Missouri. The victory moves the Cardinals to 17-8 overall and 13-4 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Trailing by one early, Bradley Lightbourne nailed a three to spark the Cardinals to an 18-7 run capped by another three pointer, this time from Justice Sutton to go in front by double digits. Lincoln closed the half on with an 18-10 run to cut the lead to just two.
  • After a back-to-back threes from Sutton and Kanukayi Gudza expanded the Jewell advantage to nine just under midway through the second half, the Blue Tigers began to chip away. A jumper by Max Ekono eventually tied the game at 51-all with less than six minutes to play. Down by four with under one minute on the clock, Sutton hit four clutch free throws, including two after a hard foul sent him to the floor with 1.9 ticks on the clock, sending the game to overtime.
  • The Cardinals outscored Lincoln 14-0 in the overtime period, led by six from Sutton, to escape with the conference road win.
