LIBERTY, Mo - The William Jewell women's lacrosse team forced overtime in Friday mornings match versus Concordia-St. Paul, 14-13. The Cardinals drop to 1-3 after the loss.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Kuepper Trinkel and the Cardinals wasted no time, scoring three Cardinal goals in the beginning five minutes of the game for an early 3-1 lead.
- Elle Eastwood evened up the game in the second, 4-4, before her hat-trick goal put Jewell up by one with three minutes left in the half. Elysa Aktinson found the back of the net too but a pair of Golden Bear goals led to a 6-6 halftime score.
- Teams continued swapping goals in the third quarter before a 9-8 Concordia-St, Paul lead into the final frame of regulation.
- Each team scored five goals in the fourth quarter, including two from Trinkel, another from Atkinson, and one each from Evan Strain and Kaylee Gross who tied the game at 13-all with 2:33 left in regulation. After holding possession for most of overtime, the Golden Bears scored a goal with 60 seconds left to secure the 14-13 win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- In her first start in goal, Kailey Carreno played all 64 minutes collecting three saves.
- Trinkel posted eight shots, with four goals. Eastwood had a hat-trick with her five shots.
- Jewell was out-drawn, 20-to-10.

The Cardinals will head west this weekend, traveling to Salt Lake City, Utah for a pair of non-conference matches beginning with Regis University on Monday.
