INDIANAPOLIS – William Jewell senior outfielder Mikayla Chairez and McKendree senior pitcher/utility Sami Huck were named Great Lakes Valley Conference/Athletic Solutions weekly award winners in softball, it was announced by the league office Monday. This is the first weekly honor of Chairez's career and the first for Jewell since Tori Farr (4/26/21).

Chairez helped the Cardinals to a four-game sweep of UMary to extend the win streak to five games. In the series, she was 7-for-15 (.467) with one walk, one home run, four doubles, and a .933 slugging percentage while driving in four and scoring five times. In game one, she had an RBI double in the seventh inning before scoring the game-tying run as Jewell rallied to win 3-2. In the second game, she blasted a game-tying two-run home run with two outs in the bottom of the seventh as the Cards eventually walked off, 4-3 in eight innings.
